This MoWu “collector” sword style guqin is still available. It is made out of very antique and rare nanmu wood (Phoebe hungmaoensis) and lacquered with top lacquer layers only, so as to reveal the grain of this wood. The wood is very rare and often was used in tombs. It is the wood used for the temple of the Forbidden City in Beijing. It is protected now, with old wood being very hard to find. Nanmu wood does not suffer much due to changes in humidity and does not crack easily, or distort in shape. To find wood of this type which is suitable for guqin and has a good tone, is all the more difficult, hence the high market value of the wood and the guqin here. With green jade hui markers and and white jade goose legs and tuners, it is priced currently at 26,000€. Please message us for further information.
